The development of a two-year-old child requires a lot of attention and participation from parents, because activities with a child at this age are aimed at understanding the world around them and acquiring skills necessary in later life. This important stage of life should be not only educational, but also interesting. Activities for a two-year-old child in a playful way will help develop the child’s imagination, attention, abstract thinking and inner world.
Every mother raising a baby thinks about what to do with a 2-year-old child at home. This question is especially relevant when you need to set aside some time for household chores or self-care. Therefore, activities for a small family member should not only be educational, but also exciting.
Kinetic (plastic) sand
One of the useful inventions of mankind was this very product - kinetic sand, which is also called plastic due to its unique properties of maintaining the flowability of ordinary dry sand and holding its shape perfectly, like wet sand. Thanks to these features, kinetic sand is pleasant to the touch, the child enjoys playing with it, kneading it in his hands, and pouring it from one container to another. This develops imagination and fine motor skills, which, in turn, has an active influence on speech development. It’s not without reason that they say: “A child’s speech is at his fingertips.” Nerve endings located at the fingertips stimulate areas of the brain responsible for the development of a child’s speech. Therefore, if you don’t yet know what to do with a 2-year-old child at home, you should acquire such useful children’s entertainment. Plastic sand can also be colored, placed in transparent jars; the set may contain various molds with which you can put figures, build towers, mountains, entire cities - exciting activities for a child of two years old, from which he will not want to tear himself away.
Features of children at two years old
The second year of life can be characterized by 3 main new acquisitions: the child begins to actively move, talk and interact with the outside world.
The main means of communication is speech, which is actively developing thanks to the unique ability of children aged one and a half years and older to imitate. Children's play activities are also improving; now they reproduce in play literally everything they see around them.
To understand what to do with a child at one or two years old, you need to understand in more detail the characteristics of this age period. Among the features of babies over 12 months are:
- the formation of plot-display play skills (as already noted, the baby displays impressions received in everyday life);
- the appearance of elements of a visually effective thought process;
- lively response to musical and literary works;
- mastering basic principles of behavior;
- carrying out instructions from parents, contacting them on their own initiative;
- acquiring some self-care skills;
- ability to hold markers in hands;
- the emergence of interest in peers, the desire to interact with them.
The behavior of a baby aged 1.5 - 2 years, in contrast to a child aged 4 months, is characterized by greater perseverance and attentiveness.
At two years old, the baby is able to enthusiastically engage in any activity for a quarter of an hour, especially when the mother is also involved in the activity. If you don’t know what educational games for children under one year old ensure the full development of the child, be sure to read the article by a child psychologist. It discusses useful gaming activities by month.
Play dough
You can entertain a two-year-old child by modeling figures from dough specially prepared for this purpose. You can make it yourself by adding more salt and food coloring for color. Salt is needed so that the baby does not want to chew or swallow it. Play dough is also sold in children's stores, but its composition can cause allergies in children, so if the child is allergic, it is better to refrain from purchasing it. The soft colored dough, easily kneaded in the hands, will please the baby, and by showing him how to roll balls and sausages, you can captivate the baby in this process for a long time. For children two to three years old, these are quite complex actions. Kids also like to mold the resulting figures together. Playing with dough is also very useful for the development of hand motor skills and has a positive effect on the mental and emotional development of the child. Another significant advantage of such entertainment is that the child can play with the dough on his own for a while, while the mother can do household chores.
What to do with a child
45 ways to keep your child occupied at home without cartoons and gadgets while parents work or relax.
Being a parent means devoting all your free time to your children, but sometimes you just want to relax a little or need to do household chores. But what if you need to combine working from home with raising children? Of course, you can turn on a cartoon for your child or let him play with his phone, but this can negatively affect his development.
Resourceful parents shared their recipes for keeping their children occupied at home if they need a moment of peace and quiet. These methods will help your baby become more independent, learn to play on his own and develop.
1. Drawing. Give your child an album, paints, markers, pencils - and he will be busy until he draws everything around. The main thing is to check periodically so that the toddler does not chew the pencil or spoil the repair. Instead of an album, you can use a roll of old wallpaper or whatman paper.
2. Coloring book. Blanks for coloring are easy to find on the Internet and print, or buy in a store.
3. Add or complete the drawing. The blanks are also easy to print or even draw yourself. The child will try to finish a half-drawn drawing, where there are not enough details or an entire part, the main thing is that the picture is interesting to him.
4. Modeling. Plasticine, salt dough or play dough will all work. Various little things at hand can also be used, such as buttons, seeds, a pen shaft or a juice tube.
5. Magnets. Animal figures, numbers, letters - they are so bright and beautiful, and they are also attractive and help the baby learn so many new things. Younger children can make circles out of them, and older children can make up words or play at the zoo or farm.
6. Letters and numbers made of colored cardboard will captivate the restless little one for a while. You can add eyes, noses and mouths to them.
7. Cut out pictures from magazines. It is enough to show your child how to use safety scissors and the child will no longer be distracted from the beautiful pictures in old magazines.
8. A collage of cut out pictures, dried leaves and flowers is a great way to develop creativity and fine motor skills. To do this you will need glue or homemade paste.
9. Colored paper and hole punch. Beautiful colored circles can be glued onto paper, made into patterns, the main thing is not to forget to vacuum them thoroughly afterwards.
10. Double-sided tape will help you create compositions by attaching pebbles, shells, tubes and sticks, and flowers.
11. Puzzles. If the child is not yet familiar with such entertainment, then you can cut the postcard or picture into several parts and let him assemble it.
12. Stickers. Toddlers will definitely appreciate this kind of entertainment. Over time, he will learn to carefully paste pictures onto paper, but for now he will just be interested in doing it.
13. Make a book or card and let your child decorate it. Inscriptions, drawings, pictures, even dried plants are suitable for decoration.
14. Playing with clothespins. You can take a bucket and attach clothespins to its edges, cut out a hedgehog or a sun from cardboard and decorate them.
15. Make a box with various items. The activity is suitable for children aged 3 years and older. In the box you can put various objects that are interesting to the child, for example: pine cones, pebbles, shells, buttons, paper clips, coins, laces, beads, watches, pendants.
16. Lace-up toys or shoes with laces.
17. Dressing dolls. Invite your child to dress his favorite doll in clothes with buttons.
18. Beads or necklaces. You can give your child ribbons and pretty beads, buttons or pasta to make a necklace for mom.
19. Lumps of cotton wool and a rubber bulb. Roll the cotton wool into small balls and show your child how funny they scatter if you blow air from a pear on them, or just blow on them.
20. Racket and tennis ball. Hang the ball in the doorway and give the child a racket so that he learns to hit.
21. Bowling. Build your child a pyramid from cubes or display skittles, dolls (whatever!) and show how to knock down objects with a ball. The child will line up the objects and scatter them again.
22. An old bag or cosmetic bag. Children love to rummage through mom's bag. They like to open clasps and look into pockets. You can put different items there to further stir up interest in the game. Similarly, you can entertain a child by showing him an old suitcase.
23. Unnecessary keyboard or computer mouse.
24. Calculator. If you have a large old calculator lying around at home, it can also become an interesting toy, especially if it is still in working order.
25. Removable lock with key. It can be used to teach your child how to open and close locks.
26. Cereals and funnel. Children love to play with grains and this is often used in developmental activities. If you give your Toddler a large bowl, cereal and a funnel, you can keep him occupied for a long time. The main thing is that parents have the opportunity to remove everything.
27. Semolina and sieve. Sifting through semolina and finding “treasures” like pasta or beans can be a lot of fun. If you take a dark tray or plate, you can even draw with your fingers.
28. Kitchen utensils. Children of all ages love to play with dishes. A colander, pots, lids, frying pans, food containers, plastic cups and other items are suitable here.
29. Yarn or threads for knitting. Thick colored threads are interesting to wind on spools or cardboard animals. If you take care of molds in the shape of animals or insects in advance and show your child how to decorate them, you will get original crafts.
30. Make islands with your child from books or hot stands - let him walk around, run, place toy animals or dolls on them. Similarly, you can make streams and paths from ribbons or masking tape.
31. Labyrinths. Stretch ropes or elastic bands between furniture. A labyrinth can also be made from adhesive tape or masking tape by simply sticking strips on the floor.
32. Build a house. Any items can be used: sofa pillows, bedspreads, sheets, chairs.
33. Train made from chairs. The child places the toys “in the carriages.”
34. Tunnel. Roll up a rug or rug and place toy cars.
35. Give me a flashlight.
36. Give me a magnifying glass.
37. Invite the child to dress toys in clothes. So you can play in autumn, winter, summer.
38. Roll a piece of paper into a cone and seal it to make a spyglass.
39. Play hospital, school, kindergarten, store.
40. Box. The box can be turned into a dollhouse, garage or crib.
41. Wiping off dust. Give your child a rag and show him where to clean up.
42. Washing mirrors. If mom also sprinkles some water, it will be doubly interesting. Then you can make faces or show off in front of the mirror.
43. Games with water. You can use containers of different sizes or a watering can.
44. Fishing. Give your child a slotted spoon or a net and show that you can catch non-sinking objects from a basin of water. Rubber toys or balls can be used as “fish”.
45. Drawing on a light table. To do this you will need a couple of stools, glass and a lamp. Build a table from this set, and place the lamp on the floor under the glass and direct the light upward. With the help of such a table it will be easy to redraw any beautiful picture.
On the shelves of children's stores you can find many helpers for modern parents. These are various musical toys with keys or buttons, lacing and puzzles, puzzles and educational rugs. A playpen will be very useful for busy parents; it will ensure safety not only for the child, but also for the home, because children, even for a minute left unattended, can cause a real mayhem. The main thing is that the toys are safe and help the child develop, broaden his horizons and teach him something new.
But don’t forget that the most important thing for a small child is the attention and love of their parents, so you can’t rely entirely on newfangled gadgets. The task of mom and dad is to develop a personality in a child, and toys cannot do this.
Drawing
From the age of two to three years, a child actively studies and remembers colors; by the age of three, he already knows the main four shades - red, yellow, green, blue. While drawing, the child quickly remembers colors, learns coordination, develops imagination, motor skills, and perseverance. Drawing with your baby is not only interesting, but also fun, because you can draw not only with a brush, pencils, felt-tip pens, paints, but also with your fingers using special finger paints. They are absolutely safe for the baby, even if he tastes them - it will not cause any harm thanks to the special safe manufacturing technology. Finger painting is not only good for fine motor skills, but also fun for your child.
Developing children's mental abilities
- Development games - anything that can be built, moved, placed, assembled, opened will do. One of the important aspects of the development of a toddler is the development of his fine motor skills, ingenuity and logical thinking.
Not only a two-year-old, but also a one-year-old baby loves to disassemble cubes, construction sets, and various pyramids. Fortunately, in our world the choice of such sets is very wide.
How to work with a 2 year old child? Very simple. Everything should be in the form of a game. In the process, the baby learns colors, shapes, qualities of objects, recognizes different animals, and begins to learn letters and numbers.
- Reading. It is simply necessary to instill a love of books in your child at home, and as early as possible. It is absolutely normal that at first the baby will only look at the illustrations.
At two years old they are very interested in this. Illustrations help to learn animals, various products, phenomena and events.
Dads should also be involved in this matter - such time together will bring him and the baby very close, and the mother will have a little time to do household chores or devote some time to herself.
- Computer. No matter how they claim that a computer has a bad effect on a person, especially on a child, we cannot do without this technology in our age.
Using a computer, you can watch different cartoons and listen to music. Also show the baby photos from walks or some kind of holiday.
The computer is an excellent tool for learning. The child can watch pictures depicting animals, colors, objects, which are accompanied by speech.
This helps a lot, since mom can’t always demonstrate how a tiger roars or a turkey screams.
- Thinking about what to do with your child at home when the weather outside is bad? Explore nature! If it’s raining outside, then it’s worth explaining to the baby what it is and why people hide under umbrellas.
If the weather outside is sunny but hot, then watch the birds, tell him what kind of birds exist, how they fly and where. Boys love to look at cars, and you can learn their models with them.
How can you entertain girls when the weather is not very conducive to a walk? Look at the flowers that grow on the windows, show what kind of leaves they have, and what they need to grow well.
If you have a pet at home, that's even better. Toddlers who have pets develop much faster, they are much kinder, and they learn to speak faster than their peers.
- 2 years old is the age when children constantly reach for a pencil, paint, or felt-tip pen. When toddlers draw, they begin to develop imaginative thinking, fine motor skills, and they better perceive and distinguish colors.
And this is not all the benefits of drawing. The main thing to do is not to limit the child’s freedom.
Give him the opportunity to draw what he wants.
There is no need to reprimand your child if he painted the grass red. Just calmly explain to him what color the grass should be and what it is connected with.
- Music. Research by scientists has confirmed the fact that little children have an excellent ear for music.
That is why it is necessary to develop hearing from a very young age using various musical toys. It is necessary to sing and dance - this is a fun pastime and brings parents and baby very close.
- Salty dough. Modeling very well develops fine motor skills of the baby’s hands. You can take plasticine, or you can make salt dough with your own hands and mold it into any figure you want, then decorate it.
- To entertain your baby, inflate a lot of balloons and let your baby play. Sometimes kids like to eat them, so it’s worth stocking up on them.
- Finger paints are a great way to entertain kids, but here you can’t take your eyes off the kids, not even for a second.
- Prepare an intriguing bag with different objects, not small in size (lids, large short ropes, large wheels from a construction set, elastic bands and anything else, just so that everything is without small parts) and give it to the child. Everything inside the bag must be changed periodically.
- Soap bubbles are a great activity for little ones. They love them very much. Children run after them, love to inflate them, they have a lot of fun and laugh a lot.
To make it easier and faster to inflate them, you can purchase a special toy that does this automatically (for example, the Tom Cat soap bubble toy).
- Pour water into a bathtub or large bowl (enough to prevent drowning), give the baby various rubber toys, a boat, and let him have fun. You'll see, the baby will love it! But if you decide to entertain your child this way, then be with your child at all times.
- Theater. Prepare your own puppet theater for your little one and present your child with performances based on fairy tales. Involve your little one in the play; for this purpose, choose a role that is not difficult for his age.
Lacing games
Playing with figures - lacing - is educational and useful for learning how to dress independently. These can be wooden toys with removable parts - trains, butterflies, bracelets, trees, flowers, fish, or voluminous plastic toys - cars for boys, handbags for girls, shoes, bracelets, buttons. Multi-colored large lacing games attract the baby's attention, arouse interest in the process of threading the lace into the holes, concentrate attention on details, develop coordination, attentiveness and perseverance. To entertain your child with such an exciting game, you can make such a lacing game yourself from scrap materials. It is enough to take colored cardboard, a hole punch and any shoelace from indoor shoes. With a little time and effort, a two-year-old child will be provided with exciting activities.
Puzzles
Another interesting game for a two-year-old child will be puzzles. Large puzzles with a small number of details and simple bright pictures are suitable for younger children. To put the picture together, the baby will need the help of an adult. You should join the holes with the convex parts of the picture slowly, explaining to the child what signs are used to determine the parts that match each other. As soon as the baby understands the essence of the game, he will independently carry out this procedure, repeatedly assembling and disassembling the parts. After all, playing puzzles is such an exciting entertainment that even adults enjoy!
Empty boxes, cups, jars, containers
If you have unnecessary empty boxes, containers, jars of creams, tubes at home, do not rush to throw them away. It will be interesting for the baby to play with them, putting cubes, small toys, balls there, pouring cereal or sand. Such games are useful because they teach the child to adapt to everyday life - open and close lids, put and take out objects, getting used to correlating the volumes of certain things. From the age of two to those years, a child learns everything new, so he is characterized by long, monotonous, repetitive actions. When a child takes out and puts the same cubes in the same box minute after minute, it means he is learning new things. Do not distract him, do not try to switch his attention to other games, when he absorbs all the new knowledge, he will move on to a new game. At the moment when the child is captivated by the new box, the mother has the opportunity to go about her business.
Active games for children 1 - 2 years old
What to do with a 1.5 year old child who is “filled” with energy? The most obvious answer is to engage in physically active activities. Such entertainment can take place either under the strict guidance of the mother or alone (provided the environment is safe).
What toys will be needed to keep a child 1 year or a little older occupied? The answer is simple: gaming accessories for active activities:
- Balls of various sizes and inflatable play accessories. If you choose such toys made of fabric materials or soft rubber, you can protect your home from damage and your child from injury.
- Inflatable pool. It is not necessary to pour water into such a device; you can get by with foam balls. This will help keep a small child occupied for a few minutes, but then you will have to clean the room.
- Rolling cars. What to do with a one-year-old child at home if he is still unsteady in his movements? A rolling car is an excellent choice for such little ones, as it can keep them occupied for a long time, because you can not only walk, but also roll toys.
- Swedish wall. Such family simulators increasingly come with elements for children over one year old. Naturally, an 11-month-old child cannot yet be left alone with such a device, but older children will be able to slide down small slides onto a blanket on their own.
- Tents. Such structures can be purchased or made independently from pillows and bedspreads. One-year-old children love to hide and climb into hiding places, so mom can calmly go about her business while the baby plays in the house.
Such activity has a positive effect on the child’s well-being, increases the duration of night sleep, allowing him to splash out excess energy.
Classes for children aged 1.5 years should, above all, be safe. At this age, children do not yet understand how dangerous the environment is, so parents should be nearby and monitor their child.
"Bag of Treasures"
A two-year-old child will love this exciting game! To organize an interesting journey for your child into the world of adult things, a mother will need to spend a little time, effort, a piece of her imagination and some household items that are always at hand. In a woman's bag (preferably with pockets and all sorts of compartments) you need to put various adult things: a pen, a notepad, an old cell phone, a large button, a wallet without coins with unnecessary business cards or paper discount cards, a clean powder compact, a typewriter (for a boy), a doll ( for a girl), a Kinder Surprise egg with a toy, or a new, unopened one, purchased in advance in a store. This “treasure” bag can be used to put any items at Mom’s discretion, as long as they are safe and clean. Place things in compartments and pockets, close them with buttons and clasps, and then give them to the baby to study. Children love to tinker with adult things, so they feel your trust and involvement in the adult world. After all, it is important that a two-year-old child’s activities bring not only pleasure, but also practical benefits.
Playing with a busy board
To involve a two-year-old child in an interesting game, you can involve a dad, brother or other relative who can make a busy board from scrap materials. Translated from English, “busy” means busy, “board” means board, which literally means “class on the board.” This means that various objects that are usually used by people in everyday life are attached to an ordinary sheet of plywood or small chipboard. These can be switches, sockets with a plug, hooks, latches, hooks, bell buttons, watches, chain locks, padlocks, telephone disc, abacus, soft books. The board itself can be decorated with colorful images of cartoon characters, attach any available things that are accessible to the imagination. The main thing is that the entire bodyboard is safe for the baby. No sharp corners or objects, strong fastenings and stability of the structure should ensure complete safety for the child.
Reading children's books
Young children from two to three years old quickly remember colorful, voluminous information. Therefore, a small supply of large-sized children's books will always be useful. Books laid out in the room will encourage the baby to look at the funny illustrations, and reading to the mother will cause calm and interest. By explaining pictures and showing letters, the mother develops the baby’s attention and horizons, and natural and life phenomena become clear to him. Reading is one of the most effective and educational methods of learning for children aged two to three years.
Developmental activities at home with mom, exercises for every day
The task of parents is to spend as much time as possible with the child and organize his leisure time. First of all, you need to start classes with hand motor skills. It is necessary to get your child interested in building houses from cubes. You should start with the simplest figures, gradually increasing complexity. It is important to constantly talk to the children during the game and explain every action of the owl. There must be praise.
Children aged two to three years show great interest in household chores. Don't discourage yourself from helping your mom. You can invite your baby to sweep or wipe off the dust themselves. You should always invite your child to help their parents. If you don’t do this, you will have to force him at an older age.
Some parents prefer to hire professional nannies to work with their children. This is a big mistake. At an early age, a baby really needs to communicate with his mother. Any exciting game unites and brings parents and children closer together. It is very useful to play with the whole family.
Important! It is recommended not just to select activities, but to focus on the child’s specific abilities. It is best to alternate creative games with active ones. It is important to observe the time of the classes; they should be no more than twenty minutes. It is still very difficult for children to concentrate on one subject for a long time.

Developing baby's speech
At two years old, a child not only knows the name of an object, but also knows how to describe it. It is necessary to develop his skills, describe color, size. It is important during this period to pay as much attention as possible to reading poems and fairy tales. You can organize theatrical performances. At this age, children love not only to listen, but also to watch.
Closer to the age of three years, when the child can compose small sentences, you can ask him to complete the sentence while reading fairy tales. For example, pause while reading and invite your child to finish the phrase on their own.
It is recommended to use facial expressions and body movements while reading and telling fairy tales. After each fairy tale you read, you need to discuss it with your child. Let him express his opinion about the heroes. This will help develop memory and attention.
Important! It is necessary to put the speech correctly. Parents must remember that the child clearly repeats everything after the parents. In order for your baby to speak correctly, you need to control your manner of speaking.
You can find many manuals and books with rhymes that are designed to develop speech. They are often used by speech therapists for classes. For example, kids really love poems about animals. While reading, you can teach your child how this or that animal makes sounds. You can print out colorful pictures of animals, show them to your baby and ask them to say how it talks.
Reading books
Hand coordination and motor skills
From the age of one and a half, children begin to show interest in sensations. They are fascinated by their hands and often look at them. During this period, the development of fine motor skills is important. It is important for parents to teach their child how to control their hands correctly. All activities for developing motor skills should include finger play. You can use entertaining rhymes or come up with a story yourself. Such activities will help develop coordination.
During this period, physical contact with parents is very important for every child. You need to touch the baby’s hands more often, stroking his palms. When the nerve endings located in the fingers are activated, the parts of the brain that are responsible for the speech apparatus begin to work intensively.
On a note! To develop fine motor skills, you can offer your child games with cereals and buttons. It is worth preparing material of different textures. For example, a piece of leather fabric and fur. You need to teach your child to compare objects based on sensations.
Modeling plays an important role in the development of coordination and motor skills. You need to start with the simplest figures, invite your child to roll a sausage or a ball. After mastering basic skills, you can begin to sculpt more complex shapes. Classes need to be gradually made more difficult.
Motor development
Mindfulness Exercises
Developmental activities for children 2-3 years old should be aimed at developing attention. This is an important quality that needs to be developed from early childhood. If you miss this moment, the baby may become absent-minded. This will further complicate the learning process.
On a note! A two-year-old child most often does what interests him. He very quickly switches attention from one subject to another. In the period from 2.5 to 3 years, the transition from passive attention to active occurs. It is important not to miss this moment.
Little children love to play hide and seek. This is a universal game that can be played not only at home, but also outside in summer and spring. You can hide a toy at home and ask your child to find it. Each time you need to hide the toy in a new place.
You can come up with a fun game: draw and cut out mushrooms, hide them throughout the room, then invite your child to collect all the mushrooms in a basket.
Excellent development of attention and understanding in the construction of structures according to drawings. You can draw them yourself. This lesson is difficult for a two-year-old child, so parental help is required. But gradually he will master the principle, and the lesson will give excellent results.
Card index of games for artistic and aesthetic development
It is important for children to develop the skill of switching attention from one subject to another. This will be useful in future educational activities. This skill needs to be given time from early childhood. For example, during an exciting game, you can ask your child a distracting question; if he responds to it, then the development process is going correctly.
Important! Children need to learn to mind their own business and answer their parents' questions at the same time. For example, a baby may be passionate about drawing, but at the same time answer what he did in kindergarten.
Hide and seek for developing attention
Baby's memory development
When learning the process of how to deal with a 2-year-old child, it is important not to miss the development of memory. At birth, the baby does not react to anyone, then gradually begins to remember its parents. At one year old, he already knows all the family members well and recognizes his favorite toys.
At the age of two years, children have involuntary memory. He is able to remember certain words, small poems. It is important at this age to begin to develop memory. To do this, you can use simple games:
- Read a fairy tale before bed, and then in the morning ask your child what it was about. It is recommended in the evening to ask the baby how his day was, what interesting things he did.
- You can invite the child to look at the picture, then hide it and after a while ask him to tell what was drawn on it. If he finds it difficult to answer, you can help with leading questions.
On a note! As a game for attention, you need to lay out three or four toys in front of the baby and tell about each of them. Then you need to ask the baby to turn away and hide one toy. The child must say which one is missing.
Development of attention
Development of thinking and perception in children 2-3 years old
Children as young as two years old are primarily interested in bright objects. If you want to play logic games, you need to choose only one subject at a time. For example, today only a pyramid is assembled, the next day a house is built from cubes.
It is important for two-year-old children to study colors. GEF assignments suggest starting with plain cards. You can show them to the baby and tell them what color it is. Repeat until the baby remembers. Then you can make the activity more difficult. For example, collect colorful balls and ask the child to sort them by color.
Important! Didactic games with cards develop thinking well. For example, pictures are cut into two halves. The child must logically find a pair for each picture. You can take a mother animal and her babies.
Cereals, pasta, sugar, salt
In a separate container or bag, you can mix several types of cereals, pasta, sugar, salt, and hide various toys in them - a baby doll, a car, a Kinder Surprise egg, a button, a paint brush, a piece of modeling dough or plasticine. The baby will be happy to put his hands into the loose mixture and find new objects every time. This arouses interest in looking further; a heterogeneous environment has a beneficial effect on the development of fine motor skills and develops imagination. In addition to searching for toys, you can play sorting the ingredients - put larger pasta in a separate glass, grains in another, pour sugar and salt into a third. Having leveled the loose surface, you can draw various patterns, lay out pictures from pasta, toothpicks, cotton swabs, and disks. Activities for a two-year-old child with cereals and bulk products are one of the most useful and exciting, the main thing is to use your imagination!
Finger toys
Finger toys in the form of fairy-tale characters and animals are sold in stores; you can knit them yourself, if possible. The finger theater will amuse the baby and create the atmosphere of a fairy tale, the main character of which will be your baby. In a playful way, he will gain an understanding of simple human concepts and principles: time, environment, good, evil, strength, weakness, courage. The game allows children to explore the world around them. This way you can learn counting, the alphabet, the concepts of “right” and “left”. Develops imagination, concentration, attention, perseverance and abstract thinking. The child learns to relate himself to the heroes of the fairy tale and choose which hero he likes. The psycho-emotional component of the child’s inner world develops. By taking such a finger theater with you for a walk or to the clinic, you can avoid whims and have an interesting time.
Speech development
You can play with a 2-year-old child by telling him fairy tales, learning nursery rhymes together, especially ones like “Teddy Bear,” which combine story and action. Effectively use musical accompaniment in games with a 2-year-old child: invite the child to make body movements to the beat of the music - jumping, squatting. Or play an instrument yourself.
In a playful way, children should be taught to pronounce words clearly and correct them if they are pronounced incorrectly. It is recommended to talk with the baby as with an adult, increasing the vocabulary of the little person.
Children 2 years old enjoy watching puppet shows that can be organized at home. It is not necessary to use professional dolls; you should use the child’s favorite toy. You can play the show with a 2-year-old child by teaching the child the rules of behavior in everyday life - at the table, in the bathroom while washing, helping the mother clean the room, and the like. At this age, children love to play role-playing games with peers or parents. Dressing and combing a doll's hair, treating a favorite bear, buying goods in a store - more suitable for girls who inherit their mother's behavior. And the boys are busy with cars, building garages out of cubes, and assembling simple figures from construction sets.
Laptop, phone, tablet
Most families with small children cannot live without a laptop, tablet, or phone. All kids love to watch cartoons, and often it takes not 15-20 minutes, but two to three hours a day. This regime negatively affects the development of a two-year-old child as a whole. First of all, watching cartoons on a computer blocks the development of speech due to the noise effect created, secondly, it creates a stressful situation for the child’s mental state due to flashing pictures and again noise, and thirdly, it causes aggression and whims. WHO pediatricians recommend that children under three years of age should not watch television, laptops, or tablets. In fact, it is very difficult, almost impossible, to implement this in real life, but it is still necessary to minimize the child’s viewing of cartoons. This will be the key to a healthy psyche, rapid development of speech and a calm growing up of the child without hysterics and whims, to the delight of the parents.
