TOP 15: Educational animated series (1996-2015)

A clickable list of cartoons with links for viewing can be found here and on the website 100kino.info. We also recommend subscribing to the VKontakte community “Collection of Soviet cartoons from Teach Good”:

The principles of dividing cartoons by age categories are simple. At 2-3 years old, a child mainly listens to and perceives fairy tales about animals. We will show them. Simpler fairy tales (“Kolobok”, “Three Bears”, “Cockerel the Golden Comb”, etc.) - at 2 years, more complex ones (“The Fox and the Wolf”, “Kot Kotofeevich”, etc.) - at 3 years. In the same way, the fairy tales of Suteev and Chukovsky are divided into 2 years.

At the age of 4, we introduce cartoons based on Russian fairy tales (“Geese-Swans”, “The Frog Princess”, “At the Command of the Pike”, etc.). At this age, the child is already beginning to perceive social relationships: friendship, love, marriage, fidelity, help in trouble, the struggle of good against evil, life and death, etc. You can also watch simple fairy tales by Andersen: “Thumbelina”, “Cinderella”, “The Piggy Bank”, as well as Chukovsky’s fairy tales about Aibolit. In cartoons for 4-year-olds, the main characters are no longer only animals, but also people (usually children). At this age we watch classic series: Hedgehog and Little Bear, Leopold the Cat, Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka, Mowgli, Well, Just Wait!, Monkeys, 38 Parrots.

At the age of 5, you can show your child full-length cartoons based on Russian and foreign author’s and folk tales. It is better to split the viewing of such cartoons into several sessions (15-20 minutes each). At this age we watch “The Scarlet Flower”, “Twelve Months”, “The Little Humpbacked Horse”, “Bambi”, cartoons based on the fairy tales of Pushkin and Andersen and others. Cartoons for 5 years - with a complex plot, often philosophical.

Cartoons for the age of 6 years are even more complex: popular science (“Hello! I hear you!”, “Kolya, Olya and Archimedes”), with a “sophisticated” plot (“The Secret of the Third Planet”), with adult humor (“Film ! Film! Film!"), about death ("Bring Back Rex"), about school life ("In the Land of Unlearned Lessons"). It may be too early to watch some of these cartoons at the age of 6, but this is individual. There are few cartoons in this age category. This means that you can (and should!) go back and watch your favorite old cartoons. And - start watching children's films!

Many will object: “And my child watched with great interest Winnie the Pooh (Gena the crocodile, Carlson, Leopold the cat...) when he was 2 years old!” Children can watch a lot without really understanding what is happening on the screen. Therefore, it is better to show cartoons according to age, so that the child understands what he is watching, lives through the twists and turns of the plot with the characters, listens to his native speech and remembers songs. In addition, it is very important to talk with your child about the content of the cartoon before and after watching it.

But you can watch cartoons that are not appropriate for your age only occasionally, say, once a week, thereby running into the child’s zone of proximal development. Such views will give the child food for further development.

Let us note that from the point of view of the physiological impact of television on the development of children under three years of age, a child’s viewing of television should be reduced to a minimum. Healthy children 3-4 years old can spend 15-30 minutes a day watching TV, younger schoolchildren 1-1.5 hours 2-3 times a week.

Top 6 best

I present to you a list of cartoons that meet all the listed requirements and were tested on my own child.

"Little Einsteins" First season

The undisputed leader of my hit parade. Episodes are 20-25 minutes long, available in Russian and Romanian. Plot: A group of 4 kids on a musical rocket are trying to help someone in trouble.

Why do I, as a mother, adore him? Firstly, it is voiced by real children's voices, and not by grimacing aunties. Secondly, every episode features classical music and paintings by great artists in the background. The child is instilled with a taste and respect for real works of art. Thirdly, in the process of completing tasks, the heroes learn a lot of educational things - what volcanoes are, Egyptian pyramids, which tree is the tallest in the world... Fourthly, the cartoon characters are kind, sympathetic, but they are still ordinary children - who love to feel things, even to misbehave sometimes - and not perfect zombies. Fifthly, the cartoon gives children the right attitudes in life - that your favorite activity in life makes you happy, that each of us is unique and talented, that friends and, in general, all living beings on earth should support each other.

And as a side effect, my son has learned a lot of musical terms that he uses in real life. You should have seen our grandfather’s eyes when his grandson told him: “Grandfather, I’m tired of going allegro, let’s do a little adagio, and then, when we take a break, crescendo!”

Production - Disney, USA, 2005-2009.

"Robot Robik"

Another very cute animated series, available only in Russian. The plot is about a company of cute robots going to the appropriate planet to solve any problem that has arisen. To the dance planet - to choose a dance, to the key planet to find the key for the wind-up mouse, etc.

This cartoon teaches children to think logically, look for solutions to problems, and be one team. Like the previous animated series, it shows that each of us is talented and unique, and that it is easier to solve problems in a team.

Manufactured in Canada, 2010.

"Franklin and His Friends"

Franklin the turtle lives in the forest, communicates with friends, parents, and neighbors. He is an ordinary child - sometimes he is arrogant, sometimes he quarrels with his friend. But he is very kind and sweet.

This cartoon was clearly developed by psychologists, because it plays out and solves common childhood problems - how to learn to leave your mother, how to overcome your shyness and fear of something new, and even what happens if your parents are divorced. Moreover, all this is so easy and unobtrusive that many series can become real multi-therapy for your baby.

Manufactured in Canada, 2011.

"The Incredible Investigations of Hackley the Kitten"

Detective cartoon series. Russian and Romanian languages. Kitten Hackley and his friends love to play detectives. As soon as an incomprehensible story, a mystery, appears in the city, they take up the investigation.

A good cartoon that teaches children logic, deduction, and attention to detail. In addition, it promotes friendship, good neighborly relations and respect for the environment. All the answers turn out to be simple and kind, no villains or horror stories.

Manufactured in Canada, 2007.

"Nuki and Friends"

Firstly, it is a very beautiful, and also a kind, educational cartoon. Available in Russian and Romanian. Three good friends - plush toys Nuki, Lola and Paco live in a cozy house, play, and explore the world. In the cartoon, many phenomena are explained in a language understandable to children - how music is made, where the rainbow comes from, why sometimes we get angry, what overeating is, etc. The atmosphere of the cartoon is simply magical, the characters are infinitely cute, the action is leisurely - so this cartoon, in my opinion, can Show it to a child even before 3 years old.

Production - Belgium, 2007.

Zigby knows everything

Another wonderful Canadian-Australian animated series. This is a cartoon about 3 good friends whose ringleader is a zebra named Zigby. Each time a new adventure awaits them. The cartoon teaches children to take care of their friends, admit their mistakes, and accept others for who they are. The cartoon is kind, funny, and contains many educational elements.

The benefits of cartoons

Infants have a special perception of their surroundings. Newborns are not able to learn from cartoons. But at the same time they hear well and love new sounds. A whole series of cartoons with a lot of interesting sounds, soothing songs, and educational melodies has been developed for them.

By watching a cartoon with your child and commenting on what is happening in it, you can achieve the following results:

  • the child learns about the world of animals and plants;
  • thanks to repetition after the characters, the speech apparatus develops;
  • communication and etiquette skills are carefully presented to the little ones;
  • the baby learns to spend some time independently in a calm position, concentrating;
  • the child easily understands the structure of the body, its parts shown in the characters.
