Drying while breastfeeding

Composition of dryers

After the baby is born, his body is still closely connected with the mother’s body thanks to breastfeeding. Everything that a woman eats ends up in the mother’s milk, and therefore in the baby’s body. Any violation of the diet can lead to serious health problems for the newborn: constipation or diarrhea, colic, increased gas formation. Naturally, you should be very careful about all the products you use, even if we are talking about ordinary drying.

The dryers are made from the highest quality flour. This flour product also contains yeast, sugar, butter and salt. Drying during breastfeeding is quite useful: they contain a number of valuable microelements, for example, manganese, potassium and copper. Drying also contains large amounts of B vitamins, which are necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Possible harm from crackers and drying

Drying products for hot water are permitted products. However, if you completely abandon fresh bread in favor of crackers, you may experience constipation or other intestinal problems. In this case, the mother’s body will not remove toxins, which will negatively affect breast milk.

Store-bought crackers with flavors can harm even a healthy adult.

And for a nursing mother and baby, such products can be very dangerous, as they provoke:

  • allergic reactions in mother and baby due to flavors, preservatives, dyes and other harmful additives;
  • fluid retention in tissues due to high salt content;
  • problems with the gastrointestinal tract caused by low-quality fats included in the composition.

Such a product can cause maximum harm to the baby’s body. It is also not recommended to include vanilla-flavored baked goods, glazed bagels and other foods high in sugar in your diet. This can lead to metabolic disorders in a nursing mother, as well as excess weight gain.

Drying with hot water

Many women who have recently given birth to children do not have the opportunity to eat properly. Caring for a newborn radically changes the mother's routine and sometimes leaves no time for a normal breakfast, lunch and dinner. Therefore, from time to time there is a need for small snacks. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is drying: a fairly satisfying product that does not spoil or go stale for a long time. Why not eat sushi with tea to refresh yourself and restore your strength? In addition, doctors do not prohibit nursing mothers from eating dried fruit. True, it is important to pay attention to some important factors. In particular, breastfeeding women can eat sushi and bagels that do not contain any additional additives, such as vanillin or poppy seeds.

Despite the fact that an allergy to vanilla occurs relatively rarely in infants, this possibility cannot be excluded

Poppy is strictly prohibited for a nursing mother in the first months of a newborn’s life. It contains opiates, which are used to make analgesics, as well as cough syrups. Despite the fact that confectionery poppy seeds contain a small amount of the substance, it is still better for nursing women to avoid baking with poppy seeds. After all, opiates in small quantities can pass into breast milk and have a depressing effect on the baby’s nervous system. Drying with poppy seeds is prohibited for young mothers.

Vanilla in baked goods often provokes the development of allergic reactions in children. This applies not only to natural vanilla, but also to synthetic vanillin.

How to exclude a reaction from the child’s body?

The first month of a child's life is always the most alarming. His digestive system is still not fully formed, so when new foods are introduced into a woman’s diet, allergies and digestive disorders in the newborn cannot be ruled out.

A young mother should introduce any new product into her diet with extreme caution. In the first two weeks of a baby’s life, you can eat no more than two or three dry foods per day. In this case, you should carefully observe how the child’s body reacts. If, a couple of hours after feeding, the baby’s tummy hurts or colic begins, it is advisable to refuse them. Also, the need to abandon this product is indicated by increased anxiety in the baby, the appearance of rashes on his skin, sleep disturbances and increased breathing. In the next two weeks, a reaction such as exacerbation of colic is possible. In this way, the child’s body adapts to life in a new environment. During this period, it is better to avoid dried foods and other untested products when breastfeeding: under no circumstances should you risk the baby’s well-being.

From the second month of the baby’s life, the mother can eat dry food in almost unlimited quantities.

Of course, you should not abuse this product: it is quite high in calories and does not contain a large amount of vitamins, amino acids and microelements necessary for the body of a nursing mother. In addition, the habit of snacking on flour products can prevent you from regaining your figure after pregnancy and childbirth.

We dry the crackers ourselves and choose alternative flour products

Of course, a nursing mother always lacks free time, but if she has helpers, then you can pamper the woman and prepare homemade crackers. The ideal option is made from rye bread.

Preparation:

  1. You need to cut off the entire crust from the bread and cut it into small sticks or cubes.
  2. Arrange the pieces evenly on a baking sheet, drizzle with sunflower or olive oil and sprinkle with salt (about 1 teaspoon per loaf).
  3. Place the bread in the oven, preheated to 160–180 degrees, and dry it for 15 minutes (in an electric oven, select the ventilation mode).

There is no need to overcook the products in the oven: burnt bread is tasteless and causes heartburn and other digestive problems.

If a nursing mother wants to diversify the menu, then occasionally you can cook croutons with dill or cheese. To do this, before placing the bread in the oven, you need to finely chop the dill and sprinkle it into pieces. You need to choose hard cheese and grate it on a fine grater.

Other flour products - crackers, whole grain crispbread or biscuits - can also replace crackers and dryers in a nursing mother's diet. In this case, you should choose options that are safe for the baby, for example, products specifically designed for feeding children in the first year of life.

Homemade crackers

If the baby reacts to the introduction of crackers into the mother’s diet, but wants to pamper himself, you can make crackers that are not prohibited when breastfeeding.

How to properly dry crackers for a nursing mother

The optimal solution is to make crackers at home. Making healthy food at home is very simple:

  • bread made from wheat flour is cut into small cubes or equal strips;
  • sprinkle with salt or sugar and place on a baking sheet;
  • put in the oven, heated to 200 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

Salty croutons are served with soup or broth, and sweet croutons are served with tea. The advantage of a homemade product is confidence in its quality and safety.

Attention! Using this recipe, you can prepare homemade, salty crackers from rye bread, but you can eat them after the child reaches the age of 3 months. The product is administered carefully, monitoring the reaction.

Crackers during breastfeeding can be eaten by a nursing mother immediately after the birth of the baby. This is a simple and safe component of the daily diet. Nutritionists confirm that the product is well absorbed by the body. In order not to harm yourself, you need to follow the main rules, namely moderation and drinking regime. You should not eat dry sauerkraut, it is better to wash it down with tea or compote, then neither the mother nor the baby will have digestive problems.

Why should you not overuse drying?

Even if after the mother tried drying, the child did not begin to experience painful symptoms, you should not eat too many drying. Some women, following old-fashioned advice, stop eating bread during breastfeeding, switching to wheat and rye crackers. However, in this case, the young mother may face some unpleasant consequences.

Excessive consumption of dry foods and crackers may cause constipation.

This is especially dangerous if a woman has undergone a caesarean section: problems with stool during recovery after this operation can cause a nursing mother a lot of inconvenience and discomfort.

Selection of dryers

When choosing drying products, a young mother should be especially careful. You should not purchase too cheap products: they are usually made from poor quality flour. Read the ingredients: the product should not contain dyes or flavors. Ideally, they contain only flour, water, yeast and sugar. Products should not be covered with glaze. As mentioned above, bagels, which contain poppy seeds, vanilla and cinnamon, should not be eaten while breastfeeding.

Now you know whether women can eat dry food while breastfeeding. Doctors do not prohibit introducing this product into your diet from the first days of a child’s life. True, it is important that the dryings are of high quality and do not contain any additives. It is also advisable not to abuse them: you should start with two pieces a day.
